Wescott Painting: Web Design & Directory Submissions

New Business Website Design

In 2022, we received an email seeking a web designer for a residential house painting business in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Although the business was active at the time, they had not yet set up a business website. They only had a domain name, a logo and an Instagram account. After a few phone calls and proposals, we arrived at a scope and budget for a responsive WordPress website designed with local SEO in mind. They also chose to host their website on Frederick SEO & Web Design servers. I love telling my clients that their website is powered by 100% green energy in wind-powered data centers.

I researched house painting companies in Pittsburgh to analyze the pages and content of their websites, social media accounts, and directory listings. The business owner also shared links to a few of her competitors. Using the green color from their logo, we designed a clean, simple, custom layout for WescottPainting.com. This site was built with WordPress, is easy to navigate, has clear calls-to-action and contact options, and it looks great on mobile devices as well as tablets and computers.

Wescott Painting does excellent work for the residents of Pittsburgh, often using two-tone color schemes and accent colors, which provided plenty of beautiful pictures for the website.

GBP & Directory Submissions

I recommend creating a Google Business Profile to all of my local business clients, including service area contractors such as house painters, tree trimming services, and carpet cleaners. Some digital marketing professionals argue that a well optimized GBP that is regularly updated and collects customer reviews can be as important, if not more important, than your business website. We created a Google Business Profile for Wescott Painting, and the customer reviews started coming in right away. In a little over a year, the business owner collected more than 20 reviews on Google and 5 reviews on Angi.

Customer Reviews and Social Integrations

Using this great WordPress plugin, I am able to automatically feed all the Google reviews directly to a Customer Reviews page on the website, which also has icons linking to her other social media, business profiles and directory listings on Angi, Apple Maps, Bing, BuildZoom, Facebook, Houzz, Instagram, Manta, Porch, and Yelp.

I also integrated a new free Mailchimp account into contact forms on the WescottPainting.com to help keep house painting leads organized for the business owner.

Later Updates and Additions

Around the website’s first birthday, I reached out to see if Wescott Painting would like to make any updates. The owner had a lot of new photos to share. Those were uploaded to the website and to a few of the business directories. A new Clover link was added to the main menu of WescottPainting.com to allow customers to make payments quickly online. Other additions and updates inlcuded creating an FAQ page, removing exterior painting from the services offered (on the website and directories), and focusing more on cabinetry fine finishing with a feature section on the homepage and services page.

Whenever possible, lean in to a niche for your business! This can help you to stand out amongst competition, and offer more specialized services.
